    Using summer blooms and botanicals, we will press the plants into slabs of clay. The clay will be placed into bowl molds. Underglazes and glazes will add color during both the construction and finishing phases. All materials included.

    We will be focusing on the texture of animals, using acrylic paint on a leather-like canvas. This surface really lends itself to creating wonderful fur and scales and is very easy to do! Great to try on boots, shoes, and purses! All skill levels welcome. Please bring a hard copy of a reference, NOT from your phone. All other materials included. Optionally, students may bring their own supplies.

    Paper quilling has been used for centuries and is named for the feather quill the paper was rolled around. Modern tools make this much easier. Learn and practice the basic shapes, methods of rolling and shaping, and gluing pieces to form a floral design. All materials included.

    Join us for some mindful drawing the involves creating structured, repetitive patterns in a Zentangle-inspired form. The "zen" comes from the meditative qualities of the process, while the "tangle" refers to the patterns created using simple, repetitive strokes. All materials included. Optionally, students may bring a scratchboard and stylus to do a reverse image.

  • WSH-10 German & Polish Heritage (FA25)

    In Germany, paper cut out art is called Scherenschnitte. The Wycinanki, created in Poland were large, intricate and layered. We will choose one of two patterns, both featuring delicate, symmetrical designs to try our hand at this art form. We will then use a pattern to create the Wycinanki rooster.     Liven up your holiday decorations with a hand built ginger-bread house made out of clay. We will be using templates, slabs, sprig molds, stamps, and shape cutters to create our "candy" decorated houses.     Let's involve your tactile senses to slab build a clay mug and select a glaze to finish the mug. Now the real fun begins! At the 2nd class, use your new mug as we will dive into the world of coffee with a certified coffee master. Explore the journey from bean to cup of the most popular drink around the world. You will have the opportunity to taste a variety of coffees (with food pairings) and learn about the "roast curve" while you find the perfect blend for you! All materials included.
