PLEASE NOTE THIS IS A DATE CHANGE FROM WHAT IS IN THE CATALOG! THIS WORKSHOP IS ON SATURDAY, MAY 2ND.
What’s a “drop cap”? Good question. A drop cap is a large, decorative capital letter used as a design element. While we see them at the beginnings of a new paragraph or a chapter in books, there’s so many other ways to use them.
This workshop will cover the basics of drawing individual letter forms and focus on designing a single beautifully-illustrated drop cap. Perfect for anyone interested in learning the basics of hand-lettering, but without the time to take a full lettering course.
Materials to bring to class: Drawing paper or Bristol board, pencils, fine and broad tip markers, Sharpies, tracing paper and a ruler. If desired, but not required, you may bring colored pencils, paints, markers, digital tools (iPad or laptop) or any other mediums of your choice to create final artwork in color.
