  Using textured rolling pins and mats, you will handbuild a tray. You will be able to use the texturing tools to add dimension to the tray.   Learn the tricks of refined fabric fusing as you create a free-form landscape. Your image can be realistic or whimsical, depending on the shapes and fabrics chosen.   In Spring and at Easter, Pysanky are a tradition in Eastern Europe. This batik method of applying layers of beeswax and egg dye to the eggs creates intricate and beautiful designs.   What’s a “drop cap”? Good question. A drop cap is a large, decorative capital letter used as a design element. While we see them at the beginnings of a new paragraph or a chapter in books, there’s so many other ways to use them. 

  This workshop will cover the basics of drawing individual letter forms and focus on designing a single beautifully-illustrated drop cap. Perfect for anyone interested in learning the basics of hand-lettering, but without the time to take a full lettering course.
  
  Materials to bring to class:  Drawing paper or Bristol board, pencils, fine and broad tip markers, Sharpies, tracing paper and a ruler. If desired, but not required, you may bring colored pencils, paints, markers, digital tools (iPad or laptop) or any other mediums of your choice to create final artwork in color.
