  In this intensive workshop, we will explore a variety of techniques to dye fabric. We will use plant material to eco dye, bundle dye and solar print. We will use fiber reactive dyes to ice dye fabric. Students will receive information on what kind of fibers and clothing to bring and what kind of plant material work best for dyeing.   As we enjoy the beautiful fall colors and changing season, we will take our inspiration from the trees around us. We will create hand built and wheel thrown clay forms using bark, leaves, and seeds as reference and decoration. We will create bark texture, make seed sprig molds and stamps and use leaves for impressions as we create our pottery pieces. All materials included.

  Using both indigo dye and traditional fabric paints, we will create beautiful patterns on fabric using the shibori technique of folding, clamping, and twisting.   The hot wax dye process of batik will be used to create unique paintings on cotton. We start by applying wax to save the white areas and continue applying dyes as we paint the picture. The entire painting will be soaked in black dye to create the "batik" look. When the wax is melted off, the painting is complete. All materials included.
